OR/Endoscopy Team Leader


  • Responsible for the day-to-day supervision in the OR and Endoscopy departments
  • Develops schedules and assignments for staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels
  • Oversees the development and supervision of Charge RNs in the Operating Room and Endoscopy departments
  • Monitors equipment and supplies to ensure effective use of resources
  • Assists Director of Clinical Quality in the development and maintenance of appropriate policies, protocols, and procedures that ensure patients’ safety, comfort, and quality of care throughout patients’ experiences
  • Participates in Center’s clinical Quality Assurance including benchmarking
  • Serves as clinical resource and as needed, performing direct patient care in the OR and Endoscopy rooms
  • Seeks ways to reduce inefficiencies; identifying opportunities for improving quality, services and procedures.
  • Supports the Charge RNs in overseeing daily flows of patient schedules, team assignments, coverage for lunch and breaks, administration and dispensing of medications
  • Oversees OR and Endoscopy employee timecards, vacation requests and completion of employee payroll
  • Completes introductory and annual appraisals
  • Conducts meetings with staff as necessary
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Nurse Educator to facilitate cross-training, competencies and educational opportunities are attained
  • Assists Peri-operative Manager in working/coordinating with vendors in the procurement of new equipment and in servicing of staff
  • In coordination with Human Resources, conducts interviews, hiring and training of department personnel
  • Assists in budget planning and forecasting for the Endoscopy and OR departments
  • Ensures compliance with all infection control and environment of care regulations
  • Ensures staff support the missions and values of the company
  • Proactive in employee mentoring, leadership, feedback, coaching and disciplinary actions as appropriate
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality
  • Works with leadership to ensure clinical processes meet or exceeds regulatory and accreditation guidelines
  • Maintains effective, respectful and professional communication between staff, anesthesia providers, physicians and additional healthcare partners
  • Attends meetings as required
  • Assists in the preparation for any internal or external audits by ensuring compliance with any and all regulations
  • Monitors quality controls and medication logs; performs follow-up or further investigations as necessary
  • Consistently adheres to a high standard of professional ethics and is a role model for other staff members
  • Creates and maintains a culture of safety
  • Supports and promotes a team environment
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned

  • Nursing assessment skills utilizing basic nursing theory.
  • Knowledgeable of common medications and their relationship to anesthetics and the endoscopic process, including IV moderate sedation techniques.  
  • Demonstrated effective critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills 
  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to; medical software, payroll software and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstration of OR and/or Endoscopy clinical experience
  • Knowledge of accepted AORN, SGNA and Michigan Department of Health standards


  • Associate’s degree from accredited School of Nursing
  • Current MI licensure
  • BLS certification required; ACLS certification required within 1 year
  • 5 + years as a licensed Registered Nurse
  • 2+ years of experience in an Operating Room and/or Endoscopy setting
  • Must obtain CGRN or CNOR certification within 18 months
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
