OR Aide

JOB SUMMARY

This role performs various cleaning and preparatory tasks in the OR department to ensure efficiency and smooth transitions throughout the day.  The OR Aide is highly adaptable to a fast-paced environment, demonstrates quality care and validates the Center’s mission and vision. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepare operating rooms at the beginning and end of each day
  • Perform room turnover in between surgical cases, including cleaning table surfaces, mopping floors, waste disposal and transporting case carts to central processing department (CPD)
  • Gather equipment and supplies for surgical cases
  • Return or dispose equipment and supplies properly
  • Retrieve stretchers for the operating rooms
  • Handle and dispose of waste materials, including bodily fluids and blood, properly
  • Stock operation rooms, anesthesia carts, linen carts, blanket warmers and scrub sink supplies
  • Assist in patient transfer from OR beds to stretchers
  • Maintain clean and safe working environment
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Participate in staff meetings and applicable education/training
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • BLS certification required/can be obtained after employment
  • Patient care experience preferred
