Job Title: Endoscopy Tech
Endoscopy Tech is a non-exempt hourly member of the Surgery Center team participating in its missions and values. Provides safe, quality patient care in the Endoscopy areas as assigned. Displays confidence, quality, trust, respect and teamwork. Participates in the Center’s convenient, cost-effective and quality-driven care. Is supervised by the Surgery Center leadership team and works collaboratively with Medical Director.
Uses appropriate aseptic technique to perform endoscopy assistance according to recommended practices, Center’s policies and procedures and per physician orders.
Able to appropriately handle endoscopes, including hooking up to stack, testing and troubleshooting.
Performs specimen handling according to physician’s orders and Center’s policies and procedures.
Manages inventory to maintain cost control efforts.
Able to anticipate and prioritize Endoscopy team needs during procedures.
Provides proper instrument and equipment care including use and storage.
Adheres and assists in development of policies and procedures.
Attends and participates in continuing education programs, communication groups and staff meetings.
Ability to float / cross train to other clinical aid positions as needed.
All other duties assigned by Team Leader.
Complies with cost containment practices. Participates in quality assurance monitoring.
Observes all safety precautions and participates in processes meeting or exceeding regulatory and accreditation guidelines. Complies with health and safety rules and procedures at the Center.
Provides patient care under the direction and delegation of the registered nurse.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
High school graduate or equivalent.
One or more years demonstrated Endoscopy experience preferred (but not required), with skills and knowledge of accepted Endoscopy and State Dept. of Health standards.
Will serve in patient care including patient movement or lifting. Standing, bending, stooping, kneeling and ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
Current BLS (CPR) certification.
Strong interpersonal skills to work positively with patients, families, physicians and professional peers.
May be required to enter the OR and/or CPD setting. Must follow Universal Precautions due to potential exposure.
